The New Bungles

It's not an easy thing to take when your favorite football team, the home team, the team you've rooted for your entire life takes its turn as the goats. Minnesota can't do anything right. There isn't any bright spots on any aspect of the team today against Carolina.

I chose Minnesota this week because even though Carolina is 4 and 2 and Minnesota is 2 and 4, all of our losses are against teams with winning records and all of Carolina's wins are against teams with losing records. I felt that we could take some of the momentum from last week's last minute win against Green Bay and at least make it an interesting game.

The truth is the Vikings are goats. They are not organized, they have nothing positive in the entire team. The defense is full of holes, the offensive line are stepping aside and letting Carolina pressure and sack the quarterback. We are racking up penalties and losing our coverages.

I love the Vikings, I always will, but I find it very hard to watch them as they continue to implode. This is a team in trouble and I don't know where all of the blame lays, but I think we need to ride out this embarrassing season, see what kind of talent we have in the rookies, take detailed, accurate notes about each player, and after this season of horror is over, start cutting those who aren't getting it done. I think we need to start by dumping the entire coaching staff. It may be reckless to get rid of every coach at the same time, but I think we need to bring in people who have worked under proven winners.

We are still playing under the same curse that was present during that 41 to 0 loss to Giants in the post season in 2001. Denny Green was the coach and while he proved he could bring a team to the post season he also showed that he does not have the stomach to win the big games. Tice was trained by him. I don't think we are going to put together a decent team until all of the Denny Green tainted coaches are gone.
